School Counselor

Mrs. Germany~Turner is the school counselor at Blackwell Institute.  She implements a program based on the Michigan Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program. This includes Academic, Career and social/emotional development. These domains promote positive mindsets and behaviors that enhance the learning process and create a culture of college and career readiness for all students at Catherine C. Blackwell Institute.

Attendance Agent

Calvin Ayler's primary duty is to decrease the absenteeism of DPSCD students at Blackwell and other campuses throughout are school district   when applicable.  Through various entities of provisions, his goal is to break any barriers that could hinder students from being in school on time, everyday and all day.  Mr. Ayler attempts to avoid using the judicial system to obtain appropriate attendance by consistently collaborating with students, parents and staff concerning any absences from school.

Ms. Kesha Cooley

Academic Interventionalist

Intervening to assist in improving academic achievement of all students in grades 3-12 is the job Kesha Cooley is committed to performing.  As an Academic Interventionist, she is task to work with teacher(s) to assist students in reinforcing Reading and Mathematics skills. Ms. Cooley is dedicated and works effectively to plan and help identify practices to assist individual students groups to excel.

Academic Interventionalist

Holly Moreland is committed to effectively working with small groups to assess intervention strategies to assist teachers in effectively implementing instructional practices.  As an Academic Interventionalist Ms. Moreland works alongside the classroom teachers in grades 3-8 to plan and implement intervention strategies in English/ELA and Math through the iReady program.

Mr. Quale Williams

Department of Health and Human Services Success Coach

Quale Williams is a Success Coach at Catherine Blackwell Institute.  He works for the Department of Health and Human Services where he helps service families with finding ways to eliminate any barriers they may encounter.  Here at Blackwell he works beside the attendance agent to combat chronic abenteeism. Mr. Williams is also able to assist any family with public assurance benefits.  He can become the assigned worker of any parent of our Blackwell students.  His service are the same services that can be done at the local DHHS office. You can find him in the Annex on the second floor, Mondays and Thursday, from 8:30-3:40pm.
