If a teacher transfers, within the district, from one school to another school will the laptop remain with the teacher?
Answer:
Yes, the teacher will keep the laptop/desktop if the transfer is within the district. Upon a teacher's departure from the Detroit Public Schools, he/she is required to return the laptop/desktop to the principal or school, they originally received it from. The principal will then assign the laptop to another certified teacher, who meets all the criteria's of the TTI program.
What are the DPS insurance policies/procedures associated with this program for damage/thief ? What will teachers be accountable for in regards to insurance?
Answer:
DPS has obtained a district wide insurance policy for the TTI equipment. The Teacher's receiving the TTI laptop must sign the Property Receipt before taking possession of the laptop. The TTI property Receipt form contains information about the teachers' responsibility. Signing of the Property Receipt means the teacher is in agreement with the rules and regulations of the TTI laptop program.
Damaged TTI laptops ARE NOT covered under DPS insurance policy, therefore all teacher are responsible for their damaged unit.

Teachers are encouraged to purchase software, and anything else to make the laptop more efficient for their production.
What recourse do the a principals have to get computers back from teachers who have left the Detroit Public Schools and refuse to return the computer.
