Guide for Student Success on Tests

Before the Test

• Ask to see homework assignments.
• Encourage students to take responsibility for homework.
• Set aside a specific time for study.
• Provide a well-lighted, quiet setting for study.
• Help students learn how to find information.
• Use homework to see what is being taught in school.
• Praise students for good work.
• Confer with teachers on a regular basis.
• Become familiar with testing dates.

On the Day of the Test

• See that your child has time for a good breakfast.
• See that your child arrives at school on time and is relaxed.
• Encourage your child to do the best work possible.

After the Test

• Examine all test reports sent home.
• See your child's principal, counselor or teacher if additional information is required.
