Pointers for Parents

  • Hold children's behavior to high standards.
  • Set high expectations for children's school work.
  • On Sunday through Thursday nights:
    • Make a quiet place for them to study.
    • Turn off the TV.
    • Check their homework calendars to make sure they have done their assignments.
    • Show that you honor their work.
  • Feed your children good meals, get them on an after-school routine and get them to bed by 8 or 9 p.m.
  • Get them up at a certain time each morning, give them a routine for getting dressed, feed them breakfast, and deliver them to school on time.
  • Take care of their health.
    • Get their vision and hearing checked.
    • Take them for their immunization shots.
    • Get their teeth cleaned.
    • Tend to problems such as asthma.
