DPS giving out educational materials to parents

In an attempt to keep students stimulated mentally during the ongoing teachers strike, the Detroit Public Schools is providing parents curriculum packages for a variety of subjects, including English language arts, science, mathematics and social studies.

The materials are available beginning today and may be picked up at the Detroit Public Schools Welcome Center, located at 3031 W. Grand Blvd., on weekdays from 8:30am to 6pm.  These materials will assist in providing meaningful activities for students during the teachers’ strike.

Parents may also visit the District’s website at www.detroitk12.org to find information on Grade Level Content Expectations. From the homepage click on “What Your Child Should Be Learning,” then click to designate the grade and subject.  Specific concepts are listed that will assist parents in helping their children at home.
