Bates Academy teacher chosen as metro Detroit science teacher of the year

Jermaine Evans, a science teacher at Bates Academy, has been selected as the Metropolitan Detroit Science Teachers Association (MDSTA) Teacher of the Year.

He was selected for his exemplary commitment to science education.

“Letters of support show him to be a dedicated and innovative educator with a passion for teaching science and a masterful ability to create innovative learning opportunities for all students,” MDSTA president Michael J. Klein said in a letter announcing the award. “The MDSTA would like to applaud Mr. Evans for all he is doing to bring science excellence to his classroom.”

Jermaine will receive his award at the MDSTA’s 2005 Winter Banquet and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, December 13 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at DeCarlo’s Banquet and Convention Center in Warren. Also honored at the event will be this year’s other award and grant winners.
