That well known phrase so inspired Chadsey student Rachel Woods that she wrote an essay that was a winner in the national Got Milk?
Healthy Schools Challenge. The $1,000 she won will be used for a school-wide walkathon. To top it off, an NBA player will come to the school to personally present the check to Rachel. The contest was a result of the partnership between the NBA and the Got Milk? campaign to reward teens and schools that are encouraging youngsters to become more active and make better decisions that affect their health. The emphasis is on getting teens to select milk rather than less nutritious, often sugary, beverages because of their bodies’ need for calcium and other nutrients that milk offers. The effort has been bolstered by results from a study at Indiana University that found that chocolate milk helps athletes recover from strenuous workouts. Rachel is one of the 50 students who won, nationwide. Her accomplishment now places Chadsey in the running for a chance at a $15,000 gymnasium makeover and Rachel to possibly be featured in the famous Got Milk? ad campaign, along with receiving tickets to the NBA Finals. Locally, you’ll see her on the Fox 2 Morning Show on Friday, September 9th. Listen to Rachel and Get Milk!
