It’s time to get your yard ready for winter, and one of the jobs you need to complete is the thinning out of certain plants such as hostas.
After you thin them, don’t just throw them away. Take them to Durfee Middle School because the students, staff, parents, community residents and members of The Greening of Detroit will use them to beautify the school grounds on Saturday, September 10th. If you don’t have hostas, bring bags of mulch. The school will be accepting the gifts of greenery from September 6th through the 9th. Just call ahead to let them know that you’re bringing some plants or some mulch, or you’d like to volunteer to do some of the planting. Contact Captoria Snipes at 252-3070 for more information.
