Detroit, MI -- In the fall, the Vandenberg Elementary school building will be the home of a new school program,
the College Bound Kids Academy (CBK), a DPS school of choice, only if 100 more students can be enrolled in the CBK program by June 7th. Time is short so current Principal Shirley Daggs-Monroe, her staff and parents are going to host two informal, all-day, ‘The New CBK Academy-Open House’ sessions for parents who are curious and who might want to fill out an application to enroll their child(ren) in CBK…designed to be a true educational gem.
‘Save The New Academy Open House’ sessions will take place on Monday, June 6th and
Tuesday, June 7th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The Vandenberg Elementary building is
located at 15000 Trojan near the northbound Lodge service drive and 8 mile road. Parents should just call the principal at 494-7340 to visit.
Based on the philosophy that every child is smart, the CBK Academy is structured for children in grades K through 5. The curriculum will focus on helping the students to develop self confidence, work effectively, and emerge better prepared to eventually go on to a successful educational career in college.
Nestled in a stable, clean and quiet neighborhood, the students in the existing school have a strong AYP history, have benefited from great hands-on teaching, and are involved in academic games. The new College Bound Kids Academy program would retain the nurturing philosophy of Vandenberg, and expand both the academics and the after school activities. Currently, parents drive their children to Vandenberg from all parts of Detroit to take advantage of its environment and dedicated staff. Those students will remain at the school and be a part of the new College
Bound Kids Academy.
