Skillman Foundation. Good Schools: Making the Grade

Our Detroit Public Schools did a fabulous job!!. Out of the seventy six (76) schools that were awarded, fifty-six (56) were Detroit Public Schools.

The schools awarded in the HIGH PERFORMING catagory will receive banners to post outside their schools on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Holcolmb Elementary School.

Robert Porche of the Detroit Lions will be presenting each school with their banner.

Category One: High Performing Schools

Criteria: Schools must first meet a requirement that at least 75 percent of the students have met or exceeded acceptable achievement standards. In addition, the school must have a 90% attendance rate and met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Category Two: Improving Schools

Criteria: Schools must first meet the requirement that there is a 10% increase of students meeting achievement standards over the prior year. In addition, the school must have a 90% attendance rate and met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
