Dr. Norma Barquet, an executive director in the Office of Academic Affairs and a champion of diversity and multiculturalism, will be one of five women honored at the Anti-Defamation League\\\'s 9th annual Women of Achievement Awards and Dinner next month.
The award honors “women of inspiration who are making a difference in our community and who exemplify the philosophy of ADL through their efforts to promote and inspire greater understanding among the diverse communities of Metropolitan Detroit,” according to Marianne Bloomberg of the ADL.
Other recipients of this coveted award will be Lynne Deitch, a shareholder and partner at Butzel Long; Julie Fream, vice president and general manager of Daimler Chrysler North America: and the Honorable Denise Page Hood, a U.S. District Court judge based in Detroit. The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005, at The Somerset Inn in Troy.
Previous recipients of this award include Kathleen Straus, Nettie Seabrooks, Shirley Stancato, Geneva Williams, Nati Jenks. Reservations for the dinner can be made by calling the Anti-Defamation League at 248-646-2440. Tickets are 175.00 each.
