Violence affects everyone. Those victims who live through the attacks now live with a new and very real fear.
Those who are lucky enough to never have been a victim of violence, still feel the repercussions manifested by the manner in which the constant barrage of information about violence in our society changes our lives. The community has to take a stand and on Saturday, April 23, it will. At 10 a.m. at Calihan Hall at the University of Detroit/Mercy on 6 Mile, near Livernois, the community will stand and march in anti-violence unity in the 2nd Annual Change The Culture of Violence March and Rally. Join the Pioneers for Peace, the DPS Marching Band, the Kabazz Positive Peers, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, and other Wayne County officials, representatives from the Governor’s office, the Michigan State Police, Safe and Drug Free Schools, the Ninth Precinct and more as they let it be known that the community has declared peace on violence. The rally will take place immediately after the march at the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse on the State Fairgrounds where Fanchon Stinger and Charles Pugh will serve as mistress and master of ceremonies.
