Did you know that the Detroit Public Schools dance program is the largest public school dance program in the country?
Did you know that any professional dance company that is performing within a 200 mile radius of Detroit will gladly offer to come to DPS schools to hold classes or to perform because of the reputation of our students? Did you know that the program has produced students who have auditioned in Chicago and New York? If you answered ‘I didn’t know that’ to those questions, you may also not know about the Detroit Public Schools All City Dance concert Thursday, March 24th and the elementary and middle school production on April 21st. The Thursday performance will be held at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, beginning at 7 p.m. This is an annual event which is in its 58th year. This year the student performers are from DSA, Denby, Murray Wright, Osborn, Northwestern, Cody, Cass, King, Kettering, and Renaissance high schools. There’s also one more thing you need to know. Get to the show early. Tickets are $8 and $10 and the show sells out every year. The funds are used to send students to various dance festivals, competitions and auditions across the country.
