It’s Music To Your Ears

If you’re a music lover, just about any kind of music you love is going to be played at some time during the day on Saturday, January 29th at the Brenda Scott Middle School, 18400 Hoover.
From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., 1,000 Detroit Public Schools music students representing 35 schools, will sing and play hundreds of pieces of music for the Michigan School Band And Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Solo and Ensemble Festival. The entire day of performances is open and free to the public. MSBOA sponsors the event. The students will occupy 17 classrooms. About 60 performances will take place in each during the course of the Festival. The Festival is a long-standing tradition that District students began participating in 30 years ago. Both middle and high-school musicians will perform under the watchful eye and well trained ears of the hired panel of judges. The best will receive awards. Winning students in the 9th – 12th grades are eligible to go on to the State Ensemble Festival scheduled for March 19th. Performances for that event will take place in six locations statewide. In the Detroit area the event will be held at Harrison High School in Farmington
