The students in Room 209B at Coolidge Elementary School may not think that ‘it was that big of a deal,’ but their visits to two nursing homes to entertain the residents really was a big deal.
The students visited the Franklin Care Center on West Chicago and Cambridge South located on W. 13 Mile and were thoroughly entertaining. Some students were part of the ‘Conversation Between Froggie And The Princess’ which featured a dance to an Outkast hit, while others used story cards to help tell some of Aesop’s fables. Two students performed a comedy routine, celebrity impersonators of The Boyz and Aaliyah sang, a soloist sang ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ with the class as the backup singers and the entire class also made up the cast of ‘The Little Red Hen’ play which some residents said they remembered from their childhood. The students were such a big deal that the activities directors at both facilities want the students to come back…and perform the same show! We’ll let you know when they’re on the road again bringing love and cheer to those who need it most.
