Violet Kiricovski, the HOSTS teacher at Carstens Elementary and Theresa Mattison, the principal, can feel very good about this extraordinary teaching program because once again their school has won the highest honor from HOSTS Learning for the extraordinary improvements in the academic achievements of their students in the HOSTS program.
At Carstens, it is supported by the Daimler Chrysler Corporation Fund. HOSTS, Help One Student To Succeed, is an academic intervention system that helps increase the skills of low performing students. It matches a mentor with a student and then with an individualized lesson plans that ensure success for both the student and the mentor. At Carstens, they used the HOSTSLink Language Arts programs and once again placed among a very select group of schools, nationwide. The schools at the top.
