The Parent Resource Center Is The Place To Meet For Information

Stands to reason that parents need to learn about technology if their children are going to be working on high-tech learning equipment while they're in school.

But, there are some parents who have never even touched a computer and it is those parents, and others who just need a little computer guidance, that the Parent Technology Seminars were created for. From now through December 16th, the District will hold sessions designed to make parents comfortable about using the computer and will include topics such as :

* Repairing and Upgrading Your PC Software

* Family Fun On The Internet

* Helping With Homework-A Parent/Child Computer Workshop and more.

The Parent Technology Seminars will be held on December 9th,14th, and 16th in the Parent Resource Center in the New Center One Bldg. beginning promptly at 5:00 P.M. Dinner is provided - there are giveaways and everything is free. Space is limited so plan to arrive early.

On December 9th, 14th and 16th parents can also take advantage of more useful information by attending the regular Parent Enrichment Seminars from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., also in the Parent Resource Center in the New Center One Building. During the Seminars facilitators will cover topics such as:

* Working With Lazy Teenagers

* Resolving Family Conficts

* Teaching Tolerance And Diversity and more…

There will be activities for your children, dinner and giveaways, all of which is free.

To gain a better understanding of the MEAP, parents should come on out to Meatballs for MEAP, Wednesday, December 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. in the Welcome Center in the New Center One Building. Learn about the structure of the MEAP, why it is important and what it means for students. You'll hear from the educators who know all about the test and you'll be able to ask your questions. This project is designed for parents to help them fully understand the test and learn what they can do to help their child(ren) prepare for it. There will be free spaghetti dinners, giveaways and activities for children.

All of the Parent Enrichment Seminars have limited seating, so call 313-873-9974 to reserve your place.
