Keep It Handy

Parent and Community Liaisons would like nothing better than to have 100% of the parents of students in the Detroit Public Schools, deeply involved in their children's schoolwork and the school they attend. The number one goal of the District is improving student achievement and performance and with the help of Liaisons, District parents can learn how they can make a difference in the progress of their child or children. One of the best resources for parents is The Parent Handbook. It contains a host of parent friendly and parent helpful information that covers topics from enrollment requirements to promotion policies to a list of parent involvement activities and meetings to the Student Code of Conduct to general tips and ideas that parents may find helpful. The goal of the handbook is to provide parents with a communications tool for connecting with the many DPS educational professionals, departments, offices and programs, and of course the schools. The handbook is on line at www.detroitk12.org or you can secure printed copies by calling 313-873-9974. Remember, at DPS, there's always room for parents.
