Come On Out And ... Talk It Over Soaps

This is the Disney/ABC, national community outreach forum designed for students and their parents. It gives them an opportunity to talk to each other and with other parents and students, about some of the real-life, high-pressure issues that youngsters face in a relaxed, open setting.

The forum uses video clips about life topics taken straight from Soap Operas, as a tool for communications to get students and parents to discuss them. Topics can range from dating, and planning for college to teen pregnancy, peer pressures and just taking on adult responsibilities.

This unique project is coming to Detroit and will be videotaped by Comcast Cablevision on Wednesday, November 10th at 5:30 p.m. at Renaissance High School located on Outer Drive, near Hubbell. Along with learning from the fast-paced discussions, it's your chance to meet the celebrity M.C.s, Lloyd Jackson from WJR radio news and General Hospital's, Jackie Zeman.

The unique ‘Talk It Over Soaps' forum is open to Metro Detroit area high school students and their parents. Detroit Public School students who plan to attend but who do not have a publicity or sex education release on file at their school, must be accompanied by an adult authorized to sign them at the door in order to participate. Plan to arrive early because seating is limited.
