DPS offers Parent Technology Seminars

In an effort to improve student achievement and performance, the Detroit Public Schools is increasing parent involvement. On Thursday, October 14, 21 and 28 the District will offer Parent Technology Seminars for parents interested in learning to use computers to help their children with school assignments or for their personal use.

Technology plays an important role in our society today, and we feel it is necessary to prepare our students and their parents to face this technology-driven world.

On Oct. 14, there will be two computer labs. In the first lab, parents will learn to use the mouse and keyboard, and the second lab will be an introduction to the Internet. On Oct. 21, parents will learn basic computer skills, and on the 28th intermediate computer skills and introduction to email will be discussed.

All seminars will be held at the Detroit Public Schools Parent Resource Center in New Center One building, 3031 W. Grand Blvd, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Parking behind the Welcome Center will be validated.

There will be giveaways. Dinner will be provided at no cost. Space is limited, so call 313-873-9974 to reserve your spot.
