The Detroit Fall Immunization Blitz On!

Are your child's immunizations up to date? Not sure? Don't know where to get injections you can afford? If your child is enrolled in a Detroit Public Schools District elementary or middle school, your problem may be solved.

All children who enrolled in a Detroit Public School for the first time and all sixth graders can get the immunizations they need to bring them up to date, for no charge.

To make it as easy as possible for youngsters to get these injections, the Children's Hospital (of Michigan) Pediatric Mobile Team is directing teams of healthcare professionals who will each visit one elementary or middle school, each day from now through October 15th to provide the free inoculations from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. (Please refer to the calendar to find your child's school).

Parents will need to bring the signed consent form that will be sent home with all students who appear to be behind in their immunizations or it can be signed at the school. Now is the time to protect your child from several common childhood diseases.

This project is supported by the Henry Ford School Based Health Centers, the St. John School-Based Health Centers, the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, the Detroit Public Schools Office of Health Education and Safety, and the Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry.
