Hi - Tech Science Lessons at Lessenger

$65,000 in state-of-the-art technology can go a long way towards helping students learn, and 7th grade science students at Lessenger Middle School will start the 2004-2005 school year with just that advantage.

The school Principal and a group of teachers put in a lot of overtime hours on a proposal to the Beaumont Foundation of America for assistance in developing a hi-tech environment. It was approved and now the school will receive 30 wireless laptops with 2 access points, 2 charging carts, one data projector, one LCD project, 1 laser printer and six digital cameras…all produced by Toshiba…all state-of-the-art.

This technology will be used in a science unit about communicable diseases entitled Can Good Friends Make Me Sick? The unit was developed by the District’s Science Department, teachers and the University of Michigan. A language component was also added to the project that requires students to research an assigned disease, write about it in a paper and then put their findings into a power point presentation.
