Students at Carstens Elementary School didn’t have to run away to join the circus, the circus came to them.
The school was the recipient of an Arts and Humanities Touring Grant from the Michigan Humanities Council. They used the grant to help bring the Cirque Amongus to Carstens. It’s a hands-on program designed to build self-esteem, develop motor skills, and promote teamwork. All of the Carstens students were introduced to the fundamentals of circus arts and performing. As for the center ring, the students starred in their own ‘circus’ performance attended by proud friends, family and parents.
