Under the able direction of Marsha Sakwa, their Forensics coach, collectively, Lynneisha Ray-Dramatic Interpretation, Zsa Zsa Booker-Informative Speaking, Ernest Scott-Oratory, Anton Peoples-Storytelling, Rashetta Morris & Kevin Irvin-Duo Interpretation, and Kim Finley, Julian Kevianne, Mae Kyles, Jerry Ford-Multiple Interpretations received more first place honors in individual categories than the competing schools at the State Forensics Championship.
While there opponent schools such as Bloomfield Hills-Andover, Birmingham-Seaholm, Dearborn Devine Child and other notables from across the state, gave the competition their best, it was not quite enough and the students on the Detroit High School for the Fine And Performing Arts Forensics Team, won the matches and brought the Stanley Cup sized trophy home to Detroit.
