Mrs. Karen R. Treadway-Harvel, a mathematics instructor at Murray-Wright has been named the Wayne RESA Outstanding Teacher of the Year for High School. She was chosen from eighteen finalists.
Mrs. Harvel was honored for her passion and enthusiasm which extends to the parents of her students. She holds after school workshops to train parents to help their children; she uses innovative methods to involve her students in learning such as using a football to collect data for a probability class; and takes full advantage of opportunities to learn from her colleagues.
The award is given in partnership with the Ford Motor Company Fund to honor and recognize teachers from Wayne County School Districts. She was nominated by her principal, Dr. Emeral Crosby.
