That might be what the Secretary of Education, Ron Page mused when he heard about the consistently high MEAP scores at Jamieson Elementary School.
Although he could not come to the school in person, the need to know was enough for Page to send Brian Jones, General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Education on a fact-finding tour to Jamieson to find out just how it is done…achieving better MEAP scores that is.
Jones spent time talking to teachers, the principal, and time in the classroom to observe the students’ activities and the teaching techniques and learn what motivates the students to do their best.
Jamieson was one of 20 schools in the country that have done well academically on a consistent basis that were visited by Page or a member of his staff. It was the only school in Michigan to be so honored.
