Suzuki Doesn’t Just Mean Cars

Flo Paterni is a very busy teacher. She teaches at Barbara Jordan, Stewart, Pasteur, Vernor and Schulze.

She’s been in the classroom for 29 years but only started teaching pre-schoolers and their parents, last year. What could those two groups possibly need in common?...the artistry of music in the Suzuki String Program.

Ms. Paterni began the program with the pre-schoolers at Vernor, last year. This year the program has expanded to include a K-2 class at Vernor and a K class at Schulze. The Suzuki program is an obvious success.

It’s growing, the children are learning to play and so are the parents who are even better role models for their youngsters. The K-2 group has even made a ‘semi-professional’ appearance. The students, two parents, and Ms. Paterni, played at the Parent University graduation.
