Johara Mused was the Grand Prize winner in the Congress of the United States, House of Representatives, 8th Annual, ‘An artistic Discovery High School Art Competition.’
She was one of 20 Chadsey students who entered pieces in this national competition. Several also earned honorable mentions. They are Cheryl Rodgers, Tyria Holt, Moosa Soofi and Yolanda Calderon.
Johara received a $12,000 scholarship from the Savanna College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and she and her family were given an all-expense paid vacation in Washington, D.C. for the installation ceremony. Her winning piece of art will hang in a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol for a year. The other students’ work will hang in the office of Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.
