Students at the Randolph Career and Technical Center have finished quite a school project. It has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 1 ˝ baths, three bedrooms and a basement…better known as a house.
The 1,280 square foot home was built by the students under the direction of their teachers, and with support from Northwest Detroit Neighborhood Development (NDND), and Schiller Building Company.
The finished product represents some important accomplishments for the students such as gaining invaluable experience in building a house; the builder because the contract with NDND is fulfilled; and the Brightmoor community which will gain a brand new home that is earmarked for a moderate income buyer after the house is moved.
The house is currently on the school grounds at 17101 Hubbell and that’s where the ceremony unveiling and celebrating the students’ accomplishment will take place on Wednesday, June 9 at 1:30.
Come on out and show your support for these hard-working young craftspeople. For more information call 494-7100.
