Early Native Americans believed that if someone took a photograph of them, it would capture their souls.
When you see the photographs of Chadsey students by noted photographer Dawoud Bey, you’ll believe it too. Bey’s exhibit, Dawoud Bey: Detroit Portraits, presents visitors with truly ‘soulful,’ ‘un-fettered’ images of 18 Chadsey students. The exhibition is on display at the Detroit Institute of Arts through August 1st.
