It’s that time again! Every year, ALL eighth grade residents of the City of Detroit have the opportunity to apply for admission to Cass, M. L. King and Renaissance High school. The Examination High School application process for admission for fall 2009 runs from September 3, 2008 through October 22, 2008. Students will be tested in January 2009.
Up to date immunizations are a must for your child. If your child has not been immunized, or you're not sure if all of them have been administered, then you need to attend the Vaccine and Enrollment Fair at the Pre K-8, Mark Twain School and Academy. It will take place on Friday, August 15 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The free vaccines will be provided by Children's Hospital of Michigan (CHM)CATCH pediatric mobile unit. For the immunizations, you'll need to bring your ID, your child's record of immunizations (as much as you have), and insurance card. Seniors can get free blood pressure and glucose screenings provided by the Oakwood Hospital Department of Community Health. While you're there, enjoy the Karaoke, SnoCones, prizes, games and food. But most important, don't forget to enroll your child in this Skillman Foundation 'Good School.' Your child deserves good health and a great school. The fair is also supported by the New Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, the Greening of Detroit and the Detroit Fire Department.
The Detroit Public Schools offers choices that can help parents help their children to perform better in their classes. If your child is eligible, you have the option of transferring your child to a higher performing school and/or you have the option of securing free tutoring services.
The Detroit Public Schools will reopen its (3) three Information Center sites from Monday, August 18, 2008 through Friday, October 17, 2008. More Details

The Citywide Baby Shower recently held at the Catherine Ferguson Academy, attracted many teen mothers, their friends and family to the school to find out how it can help the young mothers get back on the education highway. It was a productive day that also provided those in attendance with an enjoyabale afternoon.
Students at Breithaupt, Crockett and Randolph Career Technical Centers have spent their first part of the summer working on beautiful creations for the 5th Annual Entrepreneur Trade Fair where you can spend a little, get something really special and the students keep the proceeds.
The Southeastern High School of Technology community and it's parnters in education, the Chrysler Mack Engine plants and Jefferson North Assembly, invite you to attend the first, SEHS Community Scholarship Dinner. It will be held on Friday, July 25 at the Wayne County Community College District-Eastern Campus at 5901 Conners, from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is a grand celebration of the accomplishments of our graduating students who plan to continue with college-level studies in Engineering or the Sciences. Each will receive a scholarship check for $1,000. The funds were provided by the Chrysler Foundation.
