Must possess and provide evidence of an Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 60 credit hours
Applicants must: 1. Be proficient in one the identified languages. 2. Be proficient in English. 3. Have empathy for language minority children. 4. Be able to interpret the language between school and family (student). 5. Proficiency examination will be administered for English and the identified Language. 6. Preference will be given to applicants living in one of the assigned school neighborhoods.
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
The School Service Assistant Bilingual may be assigned to more than one school location. However, School Service Assistants will not be assigned more than one school daily. Transportation will be the responsibility of the School Service Assistant.
Under the direction of the Bilingual Teacher the Bilingual School Service Assistant will be responsible for:
1. Assisting the teacher with instructional tasks assigned to individual
students or small groups of students.
2. Assisting the teacher with related tasks such as recordkeeping, checking students’ work, preparing and distributing instructional materials, etc.
3. Serving as a liaison between the school and the family.
4. Attending Parent-Staff Meetings.
5. Participating in in-service workshops.
6. Observing student performance and assisting in the planning and implementation of appropriate instructional activities.
7. Performing other related duties as assigned.
You must provide a non-refundable payment of $65.25 by cashier's check, certified check or money order, payable to the I.I.S. (Identix Identification Services).

All fingerprinting appointments will be scheduled by Detroit Public Schools, Human Resources Department.
