Candidates for this position must possess and provide evidence of a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution; and have significant course work at the Master’s level in leadership, management, and administration. Candidate must provide evidence of training in Fund Development, Grant Writing and Grant Management Requirements as mandated by federal, state, and local guidelines.
Candidate must have a minimum of seven (7) years of administrative experience, and at least five (5) years experience in fund development, grant writing, and/or program development, and budget development. Candidate must also have at least two (2) years of supervising programs, projects, and staff; along with experience in researching and applying for grants electronically.
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
Candidates must have the ability to prioritize appropriately, make independent decisions, and perform well under pressure, meeting all departmental deadlines. Candidates must also possess organizational and time management skills.
Under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent the Executive Director, Office of Funds and Development will:
1. Research and identify Federal, State and Local competitive funding for which the District is eligible.
2. Research and identify private foundations, businesses, and corporations to generate revenue to support the Districts educational programs.
3. Assure that proposed funding be aligned with the mission, goal, and objectives of the District.
4. Assure that proposed funding support the District-wide improvement plan.
5. Serve as the primary contact for the District for incoming grant and funding announcements and notices.
6. Oversee the smooth continuation of multiyear grants and the proper termination of completed grants.
7. Participate in local, state, and national organizations, and conferences for funding purposes and compliance.
8. Serve as Application Administrator for all grants developed via the Michigan Department of Education Michigan Electronic Grants System (MEGS), and federal grant systems, i.e.; Grants.gov, E-Grants, and the Institute of Education Science.
9. Collaborate with the District staff in order to ensure regulatory compliance.
10. Develop short and long term fundraising programs designed to elicit maximum gift support from individuals, foundations, corporations and public agencies.
11. Maintain orderly accounts of superintendents’ approvals, expenditure reports, monthly status reports and other required records.
12. Oversee the maintenance of all department records, keep accurate grant and donor history, regulate all data collection, evaluate and report the effectiveness to the Office of the General Superintendent and others as required.
13. Supervise the submission of competitive and formula grants.
14. Provide leadership and direction to staff assigned to manage grants.
15. Attend Board of Education meetings.
16. Fulfill all other responsibilities assigned.
