Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate

Experience:

Candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years or (8000 hours) work experience and extensive knowledge-base of graphics, designs and printing. Must be able to verify a minimum of four (4) years of recent and relevant occupational experience in the field of arts and graphics. The experience must be within six (6) years of application. Competency-based curriculum development experience desired. The right candidate must be student-focused and foster a positive student-learning environment. The candidate is required to obtain a Michigan Teacher Certification and vocational certification.

Attendance:

Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.

Citizenship:

Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.

Physical Condition:

Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.


Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Principal/Designee the Day Trade Instructor will:

Essential Functions:

1. Work directly with staff in the Graphics and Printing Computerized Technology Program;

2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of graphics communications and design;

3. Show evidence of proficiency in understanding and the teaching of the theory, practical applications and systems of operations;

4. Demonstrate an extensive knowledge in the implementation of related software such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office;

5. Model and implement creative strategies and techniques, technical expertise and customer services in all areas of graphics communication;

6. Demonstrate strategies for project-based learning utilizing industry standards;

7. Focus on the integration of improving academic achievement by connecting the technical skills and framework with language arts, mathematics and other related standards;

8. Develop and expand the students creative interest in art and computer graphics;

9. Provide students with a curriculum that will allow for a smooth transition into the world of graphics and printing technology;

10. Engage students in rigorous project-based learning that will extend into industry-driven services;

11. Provide students with marketable skills in computerized operations such as web development, PowerPoint presentations, editing and advertising;

12. Develop strong partnerships with local businesses, community leaders and parents;

13. Attend conferences, staff development institutes and other programs to gain valuable insights into Graphics, Printing and Communications;

14. Acquire access to industry training to enhance exposure to current trends and technology;

15. Establish student success as a primary goal and provide opportunities for all to experience success;

16. Participate and support youth organization activities;

17. Endorse and support the recruitment efforts of the school;

18. Provide students with broad-based career opportunities in the field;

19. Challenge students to seek academic rigor in all aspects of the program;

20. Build good interpersonal relationships and establish positive rapport with students, parents and colleagues;

21. Establish a learning climate that promotes educational proficiency that contributes to the career development of all students;

22. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the administration.

Security Clearance:
