High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years or 8000 hours of related work relevant occupational experience in law enforcement and/or public safety. The experience must be within six (6) years of application. Competency-based curriculum development experience desired. The right candidate must be student-focused and foster a positive student-learning environment. Candidate will assess student learning.
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
Under the direction of the Principal/Designee the Day Trade Instructor – Law Enforcement/Public Safety will:
1. Provide instructional and leadership skills in the following areas:
a) Law Enforcement Services
b) Emergency and Fire Management Services
c) Security and Protective Services
d) Legal Services
e) Correction Services
2. Establish student success as the primary goal! Work directly with related staff members in the Law Enforcement/Public Safety Program;
3. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all components of the program;
4. Show evidence of the proficiency of the career cluster relating to the development of the technical and professional skills;
5. Model and implement strategies for Project-Basted Learning;
6. Engage students in research and project-based learning for the development of cluster knowledge and skills;
7. Interpret, transcribe and communicate information, data and observations in a variety of designs for learning;
8. Focus on the integration of improving Academic Achievement by connecting communication frameworks with language arts, mathematics and other State and District Standards;
9. Enhance student learning with technology and simulated services for Law Enforcement/Public Safety and other support services;
10. Develop strong partnerships with local businesses such as the Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, educational institutions, community leaders and parents;
11. Acquire access to industry training to continue professional growth and development with current trends, techniques and procedures;
12. Attend conferences, staff development institutes and other programs to gain valuable insight into the world of Safety and Security;
13. Endorse and support the recruitment efforts of the program;
14. Challenge students to seek academic rigor in all aspects of the program;
15. Build good interpersonal relationships and establish positive rapport with students, parents and colleagues;
16. Provide a “First-Class” quality of education that will enable all students to face the challenges of the career pathway cluster;
17. Establish a learning climate that promotes educational proficiency that contributes to the career development of all students;
18. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
