In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (O.S.A.S.) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced:

Must possess and provide evidence of a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferably in a technology related field, i.e. (Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or Instructional Technology). Copy of transcript(s) documenting degree and coursework must be submitted with letter of interest.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in developing programming code and coordinating technical programming projects/tasks. Three to five years successful experience working in a K-12 environment that utilizes technology in an instructional and work environment to support teaching and administrative duties is desired. Must show evidence of a range of skills that include: utilizing data management systems; coordinating divisional and/or organizational enterprises, e.g. professional development activities, evidence of knowledge relative to existing and emerging technologies. Skill set of using Informatics, Cognos and SQL background is a plus but not a requirement.
Must have the ability to function independently, communicate orally and in writing; work with the public, educational and governmental representatives; skill in developing positive interpersonal relations and a high standard of professional integrity.
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
Have demonstrated leadership ability in past assignments; should also have a high standard of personal and professional integrity; initiative, energy and perseverance in accomplishing objectives; skill in developing positive interpersonal relationships; and understanding of the implications of public school education programs for society in general and the Detroit Public Schools in particular; ability to communicate effectively with school district staff at all levels and with community persons; and knowledge of the relationship between central and school responsibilities in the day-to-day operations of the Detroit Public Schools.
Being a Certified Record Manager (CRM) is a plus.
Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer or Designee, the Program Associate I will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Work collaboratively and establish procedural guidelines and completion timelines to handle and fill requests for student and District data requests;
Investigate current and emerging technologies for potential integration into the curriculum;
Work collaboratively with the following entities to ensure project goals are being achieved: e.g. networking and communications services; web and applications services; contracts and procurements; research, evaluation and assessment; student, financial and human resources personnel;
Negotiate and work with vendors and districts internal customers in conjunction with technology projects to service the Detroit Public Schools;
Understand the use of project management techniques and strategies to successfully manage the implementation of project goals and objectives;
Support training and professional development in areas of instructional technology, relevant to the construction and management of data warehousing;
Work with the district to support the appropriate use of data sources that are provided by the Division of Technology and Information Services;
Coordinate with all business units to build and support project goals for student achievement as defined by the respective divisions;
Generate on a weekly/monthly basis, management reports detailing projects/job status reports;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer or Designee.
