Job Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, INTERNAL AUDIT (12 Months)

Salary Range: 110,000 - 140,000 (annually)

This position is responsible for all internal audit functions within the District. Providing advice to departments, establishing and interpreting policy, and assuring compliance of contracts and grants.

Job Type: Administrative

Qualifications

Education:

Candidates for this position must possess and provide evidence of a Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA and valid State of Michigan Accounting License.

Experience:

Preferred candidates should have a minimum of eight (8) years of public accounting experience in reviewing, analyzing financial audits and administrative operations to ensure fiscal integrity of the District. A minimum of five (5) years direct management and supervisory experience of staff in an internal audit department preferred. Five years internal audit experience to include but not limited to Educational Administration and/or Public Administration, Federal, State and Municipal Compliance Maintenance Programs, Legal Affairs, Personnel Management and Labor Relations is desirable. Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills required.

Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.

Citizenship:

Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.

Physical Condition:

Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.


Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Board in general consultation with the General Superintendent or Designee, the Executive Director, Internal Audit will:

Essential Functions:

1. Develop general goals and objectives of the Internal Audit Department.

2. Formulate general policies and procedures relative to the functions of the Internal Audit Department.

3. Respond to audit inquiries or requests emanating from the Board and/or General Superintendent.

4. Work closely and serve as a resource to all District departments to ensure process integrity.

5. Examine financial records, documents, accounts and computer systems for purposes of determining fiscal and operational integrity.

6. Evaluate and constantly seek to enhance the system of internal audits.

7. Prepare reports on all audit findings with corrective action plans as required.

8. Develop, implement and maintain a control system to ensure that corrective action plans are implemented when discrepancies occur.

9. Compile and maintain records which reflect accuracy of the financial operations and financial status of the District.

10. Serve as liaison with Central Office and Instructional staff in executing the responsibilities and services of the Internal Audit Department.

11. Work cooperatively with and assist independent auditors that the Board may engage to meet legal obligations and to ensure sound fiscal control.

12. Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports.

13. Attend Board meetings.

14. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Board and/or the General Superintendent or Designee.
