Some partnerships are formal agreements, while others are less formal. The Office of Career and Technical Education actively involves business, industry and community organizations in the task of providing students and teachers with work-based learning experiences. Teachers receive training by participating in a summer Teacher Externship experience. Thanks to such partnerships, students receive training while working in Practicum, Co-op, Apprenticeship and Internship capacities. In addition, partners support schools by providing mentors, classroom speakers and technical support. Partners also serve on district-wide CTE advisory boards and local school advisory boards. At Career Tech Centers, partners review students' work and provide real-world assessment of student performance measured against standards of performance required on the job.
