• Five of the best 19,000 public high schools in America are Detroit Public Schools, according to U.S. News & World Report. Renaissance High School received a Silver rating and Cass Tech, Communication Media Arts, Davis Aerospace and the Detroit School of the Arts received Bronze ratings.
• Students at Detroit High School of Technology at Pershing High School have a 97% graduation rate. Also 55 of 59 “D-Tech” graduating seniors will be attending two or four-year colleges or universities;  Its 2008 graduating class earned $1.3 million in scholarships.
• At Davis Aerospace High School students can obtain their pilot’s license as soon as they’re old enough to earn their driver’s license.
• Two single-gender Detroit Public Schools, Fredrick Douglass Academy For Young Men and Detroit International Academy for Young Women, are Michigan's only single-gender college preparatory public schools.
• Ronald Brown Academy is one of only six winners of the National School Change Awards sponsored by the Panasonic Corporation. The award recognizes schools that rose from being underperforming to exemplary, and is the only award of its type in the nation.
