Mission

The mission of Student Support Programs and Specialized Services is to provide a coordinated system of structures, policies, practices and professional development to ensure that students are the recipients of a seamless delivery of support programs and specialized services appropriate to their needs.


Goals

  1. Ensure the appropriate implementation of the Detroit Public Schools’ curriculum as measured by district, state and national assessment instruments.
  2. Ensure coordination and collaboration of internal and external support service providers for seamless service delivery.
  3. Enlarge leadership capacity for the implementation of research-based prevention and intervention models that result in safe school environments and enhanced academic and social adjustment of students.
  4. Ensure equitable educational programs and services for students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment by assisting schools in maximizing achievement accountability and maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  5. Ensure managerial and fiscal accountability for the multiple funding sources supporting the district’s support and specialized services.
