Mission

The mission for the Office of Fine Arts Education is to provide a K-12 sequential program of visual arts and music education instruction to help students discover their artistic talents, to reach their highest possible development of artistic skills and knowledge, to discover their intrinsic worth and to promote positive behavioral growth. star


Goals

  1. Improve the instructional techniques for all music and visual arts teachers through increased staff development, classroom observations and workshops.
  2. Provide the district with elementary, middle and high school pacing charts for music and visual arts education.
  3. Continue and establish programs with universities, colleges and artistic communities in an attempt to augment the number of candidates seeking employment within our district.
  4. Provide visual art and music instruction in all Detroit Public Schools.
  5. Ensure that all students will complete the State of Michigan Fine Arts education requirements.
