Mission
The mission for the office of Curriculum Development and Technology Education is to provide support for the operations of curriculum development and technology education programs.
Goals
- Provide district-wide leadership that promotes effective use of technology to improve teaching and learning (i.e. Curriculum Labs and Advanced Technology Labs).
- Administer curriculum related partnerships with universities, business, industry and governmental agencies designed to increase the number of students who are job ready or college ready (Compact, Freedom To Learn (FTL), etc.
- Coordinate the Evaluation of Effective Teaching Performance and Preparation of Individual Development Plans (IDP) to help teachers improve their teaching performance.
- Coordinate City-Wide Summer School Programs (Summer Learning Academy (SLA) and MEAP University) with building administrators.
- Coordinate extended day programs with building administrators.
- Support continued efforts to communicate the “School of Choice Initiative” with all stakeholders.
- Administer the Urban Debate Programs and serve as a liaison between National Urban Debate League, Wayne State University and Detroit Public Schools.
