Welcome to the Office of Food Services web-site where “Children are ready to learn when Nutrition is the Mission!” We have totally redesigned our site to highlight some of the accomplishments we made within the District and to offer some insight into some of the new menu items we will be offering during this school year.

Below are a few of the accomplishments we made last year. We cannot wait to share with you the many exciting plans scheduled for this year.

  • Increased the amount of reduced-fat and low-fat items on the menu
  • Incorporated vegetarian options on the menu
  • Incorporated an initiative to include Halal and other alternatives to better serve the District’s diverse ethnic student population
  • Integrated Nutri-Kids software to calculate and make available the nutritional content of meals
  • Piloted new technology that scans Free & Reduced Meal Applications in the system and decreases processing time
  • Implemented Point of Sale (POS) technology in schools to decrease the amount of time students spend in the lunch line
  • Supervised the completion of 90 kitchen renovations which allow us to prepare the food directly on-site instead of shipping food to each school
  • Received an "A" grade from Physicians for Responsible Medicine for providing nutritious meals to students

We have been very busy not only upgrading the quality of the food we provide, but we also improved how we prepare it, where we prepare it and what we offer. We purchase premium foods that include national name brands such as Tyson, Tony’s Pizza, Dannon, Kellogg’s, Chef Boyardee, Frito Lay and Little Debbie just to name a few. We also developed parent and student advisory councils to participate in taste tests for foods for possible consideration on menus. We listened to your concerns and took action.

We are excited about new changes and new menu offerings such as:

  • Breakfast for all students (FREE OF CHARGE)
  • Flaming Meals program (outdoor grill hamburger/hot dog cookouts)
  • Newly renovated kitchens
  • 100% real fruit juice Cool Tropics Slushie machines
  • Electronic Point of Sales (POS) system
  • Halal certified foods being served in select schools
