Anneberg - Schools of the 21st Century Transformation of schools - Maximize public engagement
Army Corps of Engineers Collaboratively sponsors "River Appreciation Day" program which stresses the importance of the Detroit River and related ecological principles
Comer Schools - Skillman Foundation School development program to help schools maximize the learning of all students and activates the entire community.
Convergence Foundation A group of scientists and engineers seeking to promote mathematics and science. Computers were provided to schools.  
Cranbrook Institute of Science Provides an outreach program into the elementary schools. Also brings the schools to the museum.
Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program DAPCEP is designed to increase the pool of women and minorities pursuing science and engineering related fields. In-school programs, as well as Saturday and Summer programs are offered. There is support from corporate entities, government, universities and the public schools. Served on planning committee and task forces.
Detroit COMPACT Compact partners assist in the improvement of science facilities, provide equipment and advanced technology.
Detroit Medical Association Provides mentorships connecting physicians to classrooms.
Detroit Urban League The Urban League served on the task force and assists in coalition building and involving the community in the support of schools.
Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Collaboratively sponsors a water quality festival designed to engage students in activities building understanding of the Source Water Connection.
Detroit Zoological Society Collaboratively sponsors outreach programs for students.
Dow Chemical Provides apprenticeship programs for students in the DOW Touch Tech Program. Served on the Planning Committee and DAPCEP Board of Directors.
Great Lakes Seaway Project A collaboration between school districts in Michigan, MDE, and the STAR schools network.
Henry Ford Hospital Provides apprenticeship programs for students and teachers. Supports premedical careers program at Beaubien Middle School by providing shadowing experiences for students.
IBM Reinventing Education Provides computer-based support and linkages to local schools in low income projects to facilitate student learning.
Kellogg Foundation This funding supports an elementary science resource center which provides a kit-based program for schools in the K.Y.I.P. boundaries. Training is provided monthly for teachers and parents with in-depth follow-up in the classroom. The district has expanded the resource centers to serve schools district-wide.
Kettering University Provides mentors, engineers in middle school mathematics and science classes.
Lawrence Technological University Provides in-service training for science teachers along with content-focused coursework.
Marygrove College Initiated a Black Male Teacher Project to increase the pool of black male teachers.
Mathematics and Science Centers Network This program provides funding for the improvement of mathematics and science around the state. Twenty-five such centers are operational.
Michigan Cancer Foundation Provides apprenticeships for research in science to both students and teachers.
Michigan State University Provides professional development and assists in building the capacity of the district to provide standards based instruction.
Michigan Waste Energy Provides funding for science fair projects and adopt-a-school programs with emphasis on mathematics and science.
MSSI Detroit is a partner in the Michigan State Systemic Initiative. Coalition building is the thrust of this collaboration demonstrating how to build the capacity of parents, community, business/industry to support mathematics and science education. Family math and science training will be provided in various schools and community centers.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration The school district collaborates with NASA. Schools will be connected into the NASA link. Professional development is provided through our Summer Institute.
National Medical Association Provided the resources for the convening of stakeholders in Detroit to develop a plan of action for the improvement of mathematics and science.
North Central Regional Educational Laboratory Provides site-specific curriculum alignment and building learning communities.
Oakland University Provides training for mathematics and science teachers, particularly in beginning school mathematics.
Quality Education for Minorities The group served as a convener for various stakeholders in the city to look at improvement in mathematics and science.
Society of Automotive Engineers This relationship provides engineers for support in the classroom as mentors and teachers. The engineers provide physics activities using the World in Motion Program. Funding is being sought to provide training for teachers and engineers to service all elementary programs.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers Provides mentoring support. Worked together to sponsor contests for budding engineers.
The Engineering Society Provides mentors, scientists as teachers and seminars.
University of Detroit - Mercy Provides professional development through coursework for mathematics and science teachers. Served on the planning committee and task forces.
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor Professional development is provided in mathematics and science. Project Based Science is a major vehicle for training. The program in Scholarly research will be expanded. The university has served as covener for an advisory group of universities. U of M Programs for Educational Opportunities provides training in Family Mathematics and Science. The Center for Learning Technologies is the latest collaboration.
University of Michigan - Dearborn Provides professional development for mathematics and science teachers. Detroit also collaborates with an NSF funded Rough Watershed Project that connects school districts nationally.
UJIMA Academy Provides tutorials for the High School Proficiency Tests at churches and community centers around the city.
Wayne County Science Network Collaborative program networking districts in Michigan involving students in water and air quality programs.
Wayne State University In-service training will be provided for mathematics and science teachers. The Center for Urban Studies will serve as the evaluator in cooperation with the science education department. Served on the task force and the planning committee. Coordinates the Summer Institute.
