Mission

The mission of the Department of Literacy is to provide and support the literacy curriculum and instruction based on research and best practices so that principals and teachers are able to have all students reading at or above their grade level. Students will be equipped with skills to meet the needs of higher education and/or the world of work.

Goals

1. Improve literacy achievement for all students in elementary, middle, and high school.
2. Increase parental and community involvement to support student achievement in  literacy.
3. Develop and monitor the implementation of the district curriculum to ensure alignment to the state standards.
